Weekly Notes from the Principal's Desk. . .

January 26, 2004

  • On Sunday our students participated in all the Masses here at Saint Ann and one of the Masses on base. They were poised and articulate, and we received many compliments already on how well they did. In addition, the SASSY group provided the music at the 10:30 Mass. Truly our Saint Ann Students are our best advertisement!

  • Catholic Schools Week is this week! This is a very exciting (and busy) week for us. The theme this year is “A Faith-Filled Future.” Many students completed wonderful essays or poems about how Catholic education is important in their lives. Some of the students will be asked to read these at morning assembly. In addition, Family Art Projects are displayed in the office and around the school. Today the students and some parents celebrated with a beautiful paraliturgy. Thanks to all the participants, and especially Mrs. Pogge, Mrs. Rockdale, and Mrs. Stenger-Smith who pulled the paraliturgy together. Tuesday is Spirit Day - wear RED (with uniform pants, shorts or skirt/skort). Wednesday is Crazy Hat Day - wear one! Thursday is Crazy Hair Day. Friday is Teacher Appreciation Day.

  • Please remember to invite friends and family to the Open House at 6:30 PM this Thursday. Please bring a dozen cookies, if possible. You can drop them off in the office, bring them to your child's classroom or bring them with you on Thursday night. We will begin our Open House with a short introduction and student performances in the Parish Center. We hope to see you there!

  • We encourage students to bring canned goods for the needy all this week.

  • Thank you for your support of the upcoming Car Raffle Fundraiser. Thank you, Mr. Ettling and Mr. Backes, for spearheading this major school fundraiser along with the Knights of Columbus. Lots of tickets are still available at the School Office. Please encourage family, friends, and businesses to purchase a ticket! Call Ann or Karl Ettling if you are able to help in any way. Hope to see you at the dinner on Saturday, January 29.
  • Mrs. Darlene Hunsinger, the Parent Participation Coordinator, has asked that you keep in mind the following as you record parent hours:

  • There is an Advisory Council Meeting tonight at 7:00 PM in the School Library. All are welcome.

  • You will find Report Cards in the Monday Envelope. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call your child's teacher for a conference. It is our partnership in educating children that makes us successful.

  • Our Middle School girls and boys basketball teams have their first two games this week. Their first game vs. Charter is today, Monday. The girls play at 3:30 PM and the boys play at 4:30 PM. Both games are at the Cerro Coso Community College Gym (on your right hand side as you approach the college). On Tuesday vs. Murray, the girls play at 3:30 PM and the boys play at 4:30 PM in the Monroe Gym. Please join us!

  • The February PTG meeting will be Thursday, February 5, at 7:00 PM in the school library.

  • On Friday, February 13, and Monday, February 16, there will be no school because of the President's Day holiday.

  • Chess Club will meet this Friday after school. If your child is not attending, please let us know. Also, please pick up your child(ren) no later than 3:00 PM

  • Thank you for your prayers of thanksgiving for our teachers who make Saint Ann School the fantastic Catholic educational community that it is.
